I bought a cheapo camera to get my foot in the medium format door. I couldn’t afford a decent setup so I decided to buy something cheap and try my hand at it to see if I liked it. Having never shot the format before, it didn’t take long for me to get hooked. The square frame, the waist-level finder. It all just felt right.
Too bad the lens on this camera was such a piece of junk. It suffered from severe vignetting at anything other than f16, and even then it was bad. This shot was one of my very first and it was enough to get me hooked. I really like the depth-of-field on this shot, but I had to crop it because of the ridiculous vignette. It still works I think, but it wasn’t long after that shot that I went looking for a better camera.
