Yesterday me and the group of trekkers I’m with hiked up the steep and difficult second day of the Lares Trek, reaching 4800 metres A.M.S.L as we crossed over pumahuanca, a ridge between two valleys. Behind us was thick cloud obscuring the view, in front of us an almost endless vista.
After hours of climbing, painful breathing and weak legs, it was time to head back down to thicker air and lunch an hour or so down.
