I’m certainly no fan of celebrity culture, but every now and then I find an article that borders on that ridiculousness that actually has some relevance to my life and interests.
Today I came across this article telling the story of how Brad Pitt shot portraits of his then wife Angelina Jolie and their kids using Kodak Tech Pan film. Celebrities taking photos of themselves and one another is no great revelation, but these photos transcend that.
I love these super high-contrast and grainy black and white of these photos. I imagine he shot the film at something like ISO250 and had it developed it in something strong to get that effect as Tech Pan is known as a very fine-grain film when processed appropriately. I really enjoy seeing people take materials and rework them to their own vision. I think that’s a big reason why I love film photography.
