A black-and-white photo of a small, wide waterfall in spring with leafless trees overhead

Donald’s Falls, April 2022

A few weeks ago I got off the couch and went for a hike in the woods with my camera. I knew there was a nice little waterfall along the way so I packed my tripod and big camera loaded with a roll of my favourite film — Fuji Acros 100 — hoping for lots of water and lots of light.

Thankfully I wasn’t disappointed with either the water or the weather and managed to get a few frames perched on the side of the river. I love Fuji black-and-white films because they don’t suffer much from reciprocity failure with these longer exposures. I’m thankful I’ve squirrelled away a bunch of the original version of the film in my fridge over the years, the current price of the second generation of the film is shocking. I’m happy all 12 frames in this roll turned out, properly exposed, straight, and fine-grained.
