After taking this shot, I turned the camera 180 degrees on the tripod and took this one. It’s difficult to take a bad shot when you have beautiful scenery and the time and patience to leave the shutter open for a little while. That’s Advocate Harbour in the foreground and Cape Chignecto in the distance. There’s a nice — and challenging — multi-day trail around the cape that a friend and I did a few years ago.
I was a little surprised at how clear the cape turned out as it was quite dark, but the moon was nearly full and the skies only partly cloudy. Those two things coupled with a long exposure and the results are quite nice. I even got a little drag with the clouds stars.
