Cabin, January (One)

Winter light in the north is a special thing. It is low from sunup to sundown, casting harsh concentrated light over the land. There is nothing like it. There is a purity in it that I just can’t explain. It is beautiful and gives me a perfect opportunity to flirt with it.

A few friends and I went out to another friend’s cabin for a couple of days to do some ice fishing and general tomfoolery. We even scraped a small rink off the lake to skate on. The fishing wasn’t too bad and the times were good, but the light was magical. I managed to get almost a full roll of beautiful northern winter light.
