Spring hike to Pennant Point

This post is over 3 years old. Some information may be out-of-date!

Continuing with the string of spring hikes I’ve been taking this year, a friend and I decided to stay local and drive out to East Pennant and hike along the ocean out to Pennant Point. It’s a relatively easy hike, about 9.6km return with no hills. There’s a bit of scrambling along the rocks at the beginning and end of the hike, but nothing too demanding.

Spring has sprung here on the east coast, so it was a perfect day to get out and enjoy the sun and fresh air. We made it out there a little earlier than we figured the masses would be out of bed and on their way. Crystal Crescent beach is a popular spot when the sun is out and it’s not too cold. During the summer it’s a madhouse, but this time of year it isn’t too bad. This is the time of year you can see people in both shorts and t-shirts and winter coats and toques. Welcome to Canada.

The hike itself was easy as these things go. A few wet spots here and there, nothing a decent pair of boots can’t handle. Other than that, a wonderful few hours out on the trail with beautiful views and clean ocean air.
