While visiting family and friends over the Christmas holidays, my mom and I decided to take a walk along Whitby harbour on Boxing Day. After a week straight of eating and drinking way too much it was time to get at least a little exercise and fresh air.
The wind was a little chilly that afternoon but not too bad. There weren’t too many people out, but a few hearty souls managed to make it out to the lake. There were also quite a few birds seeking shelter from the lake behind the breakwater. I didn’t have taking a photo of them in mind — I don’t photograph wildlife — but as I walked along the breakwater they decided to get up and fly away. Luckily I already had my camera ready to go and managed to get a couple of shots, no easy feat with a manual focus camera, but with some high speed film on a sunny afternoon you can pretty much set the focus to infinity and the aperture on f16 and get a half decent shot no matter what.
