Celtic Cross, St. Matthew’s Church

Celtic Cross, St. Matthew’s Church

I pass this twice a day on my walk to and from work. It sits in the north courtyard of St. Matthew’s United Church at Barrington Street and Spring Garden Road. It’s a fairly old congregation, dating back to 1749. They’re a pretty cool bunch there, they host concerts in the church every now and then. I was lucky enough to see In-Flight Safety and Great Lake Swimmers there during the 2010 Halifax Pop Explosion.

Normally there’s not much remarkable about the cross once you get used to seeing it there, but on this afternoon on my walk home from work, the early evening sun was falling on it just right and I couldn’t pass up the photo. Always carry your camera with you kids.
