An empty road winds its way around a forested mountainside along the coast

No cars go

Last year when I went up to Cape Breton for a hiking trip I was lucky enough to get a few shots of the normally busy Cabot Trail without any cars on it. From the end of the Skyline Trail, again, normally very busy but with almost no one it during Covid lockdown, there were quiet, uninterrupted views. No endless chatter, no people pushing their way past you, no trucks and RV’s grinding their way up and down the hills, just the ocean, the breeze, and the birds.

Cars ruin most photos for me so I’m happy I was able to get a few shots without any of them on the road. I like the way the bright road surface contrasts with the dark green trees on the mountainside, winding it’s way down until it wraps itself around the corner, disappearing high above the crashing waves.
